Nasson Health Care Welcomes Janelle Bourdeau and Kara Tetrault to Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program

York County Community Action has partnered with York County Community College for an Earn and Learn Medical Assistant Apprenticeship. This all-expense paid, 9-month accelerated program will provide participants with paid, on-the-job training and mastery of Medical Assisting skills learned in the classroom at York County Community College.

A “signing” was held Friday, August 20th, to welcome and congratulate Nasson’s selected participants, Kara Tetrault and Janelle Boudreau.

Through the apprenticeship, 14 participants will work with medical assistants 20 hours a week at a partnering medical office (Nasson Health Care is one). At the same time, the students will receive blended classroom and online instruction from YCCC’s medical assisting instructors. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will take a national accreditation exam to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA).

Additionally, participants who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive up to 30 college credits in York County Community College’s Health Studies degree program.

Funding is generously provided through the Maine Quality Centers. MQC is part of the Maine Community College System and provides customized workforce training grants to Maine employers, with training delivered through YCCC and Maine’s other community colleges.
