Portsmouth Naval Shipyard employees now have a faster, easier, and fully reimbursable way to get to work. Eligible employees using the new Shipyard Sprinter transportation service, operating between Sanford, Wells, and the Shipyard, can receive 100% reimbursement through the Department of the Navy’s Transportation Incentive Program (TIP).
The Shipyard Sprinter offers a practical solution to chronic traffic congestion and limited parking at the Shipyard — while saving employees time, money, and stress.
Ride the Shipyard Sprinter
The bus makes three stops in Sanford and one in Wells, for both to and back from the Shipyard:

Riders will be eligible for an emergency ride home if needed during the work day.

Drive to work and get paid!

I do not use the TIP program, can I still use the services?
You don’t have to be enrolled in the TIP program – you can ride anytime you need to if there is room on the vehicle. Please, call 207-459-2932 to make sure we have seats available.
How much is the ride if I am not with TIP and how do I pay if I am not a TIP enrolled?
A one-way fare of $8 is available for employees who want to try the service or use it occasionally. We also have a monthly pass for $250.
How do I pay for the service?
Whether or not you’re enrolled in the TIP program, everyone can use our convenient Token Transit app to pay for tickets or passes. We also have paper passes available if you don’t want to use the app.
