The Shoreline Explorer, a public – private network of trolleys and buses, is celebrating its 16th year of operation, offering ways for local residents, adults and children, as well as summer visitors, to get around the Southern Coast of Maine without having to drive and find parking.
The Shoreline Explorer kicks off its 16th season on June 26, 2021. Sadly, due to the pandemic, we were not able to celebrate our 15th season as we had hoped so we move forward with our 16th season putting the past year behind us and looking forward to a safe and healthy summer ahead.
As we finalize our plans for the June 26th roll out, we are mindful of the continued pandemic mandates and the slow reopening of our tourism season, which will result in a few changes to the 2021 Shoreline Explorer season.
First, our hours of operation will be 9:00am to 4:00pm. We will not be operating an evening shift. Secondly, we will not be operating our Purple Line shuttle that runs between Perkins Cove and York Short Sands Beach. And finally, we will be operating Fare Free for the entire 2021 season.
Our Orange Line 5 will continue to operate between Sanford and Wells Plaza and our Blue Line 4 and Blue Line 4b will continue as they have in the past, with the Blue 4 operating between the Majestic Regency and the Bypass Rd in Wells, and the Blue 4b operating between Wells Regional Transportation Center and Kennebunk Lower Village via route 9 (Western Ave), with a stop at Wells Harbor to allow riders to transfer between lines and other stops along the route. Both routes will begin at 9:00am and end their day at 4:00pm
The York Trolley, Ogunquit Trolley and Intown Trolley (Kennebunkport) may be operating with limited services this season. Please visit their websites at www.yorktrolley.com, www.ogunquittrolley.com and www.intonwtrolley.com, respectively, for more information on their available services.
