Also, in a surprise (to say the least) move yesterday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a broad national moratorium on evictions through the end of 2020. There are details and nuances of course, and you can check out all of that in this summary from the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the actual order from the CDC. The moratorium is set to take effect this Friday and will protect millions of renters nationwide from eviction, but it does not cancel their rent obligations. Thus, Congressional approval for new rental assistance resources remains paramount. On that front, the Senate will be back in session next week and the House is scheduled to return on the 14th.
