YCCAC provides free tax preparation through a partnership with the IRS and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:
People who generally make $67,000 or less
Persons with disabilities; and
Limited English-speaking taxpayers
IRS-certified volunteers will help prepare basic Federal and State tax returns. Our tax preparation volunteers will also help determine if you are eligible for special tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly or Disabled.
2025 Tax Preparation Information
This year, our process has changed.
Coming soon: Tax preparation services will be available in February and March, with appointments expected to open in early February.
Appointments will be available for in-person services at the Sanford location for qualifying York County residents.
There will be no drop-off services at our Sanford or Biddeford locations this year.
Other tax filing services are available locally through AARP of Maine(to find an AARP Tax Aide site near you, call 1-888-227-7669), or individuals can file directly with the IRS for free using theDirect File Service beginning 1/27/25. Live support is available for this service, M-F, 7am-10pm EST.
