YCCAC’s WIC program received a donation of over 1,000 children’s books from Reader to Reader, a public charity dedicated to bringing books, free of charge, to under-resourced school libraries and public libraries across the United States. The books, with titles like “Listen to the Wind,” “English Rose,” “Friends for Life,” and “Nate the Great,” are designed to help early elementary-level readers improve their reading skills.
“These are beautiful books and will round out our selection of ‘older sibling’ books for our WIC families,” said Jennifer Quimby, WIC program director. “We’re always looking for new materials to help children develop the love of reading. Books, especially books that the children can take home and keep, building their own libraries, can lead to lifetime readers.”
The children’s books are available to WIC families at all five York County WIC clinic sites.
