KENNEBUNK SAVINGS ‘SOCKS IT’ TO YORK COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION CORPORATION

500 pair of Bombas socks donated by Kennebunk Savings for YCCAC distribution

Last year, Kennebunk Savings gave each of its employees a pair of Bombas socks as a holiday gift. In part a practical item of clothing, the offerings also carry a meaningful message: for each pair of socks purchased, a new pair of Bombas socks would be donated to a single nonprofit selected by Kennebunk Savings.

On Wednesday, February 10th, York County Community Action Corporation was presented with 500 pair of new Bombas socks to give through its programs to those in need.

“We’re grateful for this unexpected donation from Kennebunk Savings,” said YCCAC Executive Director, Barbara Crider. “Warm clothing in winter is vital to maintaining good health. A pair of warm, clean, dry socks protects the same as a winter coat or earmuffs or gloves. The donated socks will be given out at each of our main office sites—Biddeford, Sanford and Kittery.”

Bombas undergarments include socks, underwear and t-shirts. Founded on the philosophy of giving to those in need, Bombas has donated nearly 46 million articles of new clothing to more than 3,000 homeless shelters and community organizations across the U.S.

“Our program staff will get these socks to those who need them,” said Ms. Crider. “We’re thankful to Bombas for their generous one to one donation—what a terrific idea! And we’re certainly honored to be selected by Kennebunk Savings as the organization entrusted to distribute the socks throughout our communities.”
