Biddeford Savings and Mechanics Savings merged in January, 2020, to become divisions of Maine Community Bank. In July, the divisions formed the Biddeford Savings and Mechanics Savings Charitable Foundation.

Last month, the Foundation donated $2,000 to York County Community Action’s Energy Services program, to provide fuel assistance to families in need. Delivery of the check was accompanied by a letter, which read in part:

One of the Foundation’s immediate goals is to provide support for those in our communities who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that many people struggle to heat their homes during cold Maine winters—a struggle made even more challenging this winter as people try to navigate the economic impact of the pandemic.

York County Community Action is grateful for the donation and will put it to work helping local families keep warm and safe this winter. We thank the Biddeford Savings and Mechanics Savings Charitable Foundation for partnering with us to help individuals and families in our communities meet their basic needs during this extraordinary time.
