YCCAC Transportation Vehicles Get Essential Workers Where They Need to Go

Access to safe and reliable transportation has never been more critical to many York County workers than during the shut-down of businesses due to the outbreak of COVID-19. YCCAC began on May 4th operating the Orange Line transport (servicing Sanford to Wells) and the Sanford Transit (servicing Sanford and Springvale) on a temporary schedule for essential workers, per guidelines issued by Governor Janet Mills. This service helped bring health care workers, grocers, custodians, law enforcement and EMT to their jobs—and at no cost our riders!

We will continue to provide rides fare-free until May 31, 2020. For the safety of our passengers, we have instituted a limit on seating capacity per vehicle. It will be mandatory that all passengers wear a mask while in our vehicles. If a rider does not have a mask, one will be provided. We also want to assure the public that stringent procedures exist for cleaning and disinfecting the vehicles daily.

Our WAVE Service will continue to provide transportation to those who deliver essential services, such as health care, if they have no alternative transportation option. All fare charges on the WAVE will be waived through May 31, 2020.

If you need transportation for an essential reason or for an essential job that cannot be done at home, please call us at 207-459-2932. We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will respond to community transportation needs in the best way possible. We thank our loyal riders for their understanding as we all work through these challenging times.
