Melissa Flayhan recently accepted the position of HR Director at York County Community Action Corporation. A native of Acton, who now lives in Springvale with her husband Tony, their son, Anthony, and the family’s beloved eleven year old bullmastiff, Mitch, Melissa (“Missy”) served as HR Director for the City of Sanford for eight years and as Assistant HR Director for nearly two years. Earlier in her career, Missy served as Office Manager for Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center, in North Berwick.

Missy says she has found that YCCAC does far more in the areas of health, education and social services than she knew. “Before coming here, I did not know all the programs, the tremendous number of services that are offered to help people throughout York County.

“This organization is really working hard to provide assistance to people in our community. And everyone here, all the people I have met so far, have had wonderful things to say about the organization.”

As HR Director, Missy says that her role will be helping to support the ongoing work and commitment of all YCCAC staff.

“My job here, while I may not have direct interaction with the public, or with the planning of the programs, is to provide staff support and be part of the hiring process—finding the right fit for open job positions—and to share in the mission of this organization. I can also provide guidance to the program directors in dealing with any day to day issues they may have, as well as supporting my team and the administration of benefits.”

YCCAC Deputy Director Carter Friend says, “We are very excited to have Missy join our YCCAC team. She has strong HR experience, is very engaging, and has a deep commitment to YCCAC’s mission.”
