Heat, Energy & Fuel

We know that Maine winters can be a challenge. If you are having a hard time paying for heat or electricity, you are not alone. It’s not an uncommon problem for many families in York County. That’s why YCCAC offers a wide range of fuel and energy assistance programs so you can be warm, safe, healthy, and secure in your home. And, our weatherization services can even help you save money!

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps eligible homeowners and renters to supplement your home heating and energy costs. Please give us a call at 207-459-2950, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm to make an appointment and apply.

Things to keep in mind:

If you have no home heating fuel, (or are very low), please give us a call at (207) 324-5762, Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm. If you are experiencing an after-hours emergency, and heat with #2 oil or kerosene you can buy 5 gallons (or more) of kerosene at a time to put into your oil fill.

Other resources that can help with your home heating needs this winter:

  • Call or access 211. They are a free, confidential information and referral service that connects people of all ages across Maine to local services. 211 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can call 211, text your zip code to 898-211, or email info@211maine.org.

Remember: Between October 15 and April 30, an oil dealer cannot refuse to deliver to a consumer, even if the consumer owes the dealer money, providing these three conditions are met:

  1. The consumer has cash or government guaranteed payment to pay for the oil being requested
  2. The dealer regularly serves the consumer’s area, and
  3. The consumer requests at least 20 gallons
