Home Buyer Education Classes provide information about homeownership and prepare individuals and families for the steps in the home-buying process. Participants earn a Certificate of Completion, a requirement for loans by some lenders. Classes are available in-person or online, and each participant will be guided through the next steps toward homeownership by one of our experienced housing counselors.
Last year, 156 individuals and families who participated in the Homebuyer Education Class went on to purchase a home.
YCCAC’s 8-hour Homebuyer Education Class is offered monthly and provides honest, accurate information about homeownership. The class will prepare you for the steps in the home- buying process. Participants earn a Certificate of Completion, which is required by ME Housing, USDA Rural Development, and other lenders who offer low down-payment mortgage options.

Registration fees are $30 per person and $50 per couple. Free pre-purchase counseling is available following the class to help individuals address credit, budgeting, and develop action plans for purchasing a home.

eHome America offers a convenient online option for homebuyer education. When you enroll in eHome America, you will have instant access to YCCAC’s Housing Counselor to answer questions and help you take the next steps towards homeownership once you have completed the course. Participants earn a Homebuyer Education Certificate of Completion that may be required to qualify for certain loans.
