Classroom Substitute

York County Head Start is in need of substitute teachers to work with children ages 6 weeks to five years up to 4-6 hours per day, depending on need. Applicants should have experience working with young children and be at least 18 years of age; must have a High School diploma or GED.   Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment. Must maintain appropriate level of ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality regarding child/family information. Substitutes are needed for classrooms in Biddeford, Saco, Buxton and Kittery.  Substitutes willing to travel will likely be given more opportunities.

 

 

Food Service Aide - Berwick

28.75 hours a week, school year

 

This position is responsible for helping with the preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snack for pre-school age children. Will deliver food to each classroom and help with kitchen clean-up. Will work collaboratively with the Berwick Food Service Department to provide meals to classroom.

 

Cooking experience and knowledge of special diets preferred; teamwork skills are essential.  Must be nurturing, kind, and have the ability to give children positive guidance. High school diploma or GED is required, Serv-Safe certification preferred.  Applicant must have driver’s license and be willing to travel to different centers throughout southern York County.

 

 

Classroom Support Aide - Berwick, Kittery,  & Buxton

25 hours week, 36 weeks a year

Sanford hours and weeks may vary including late afternoon hours

 

The Classroom Support Aide functions as a member of Head Start Classroom Team.  Responsible for providing classroom support to teachers and kitchen staff on a daily basis. Completes housekeeping tasks to assure a clean, safe and inviting classroom that is ready for children to learn and explore.   Contributes to ensuring the agency’s full compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and Maine State Licensing Requirements.

 

Applicants must have a high school diploma/ GED or HSE equivalent and have experience working with children ages 3-5. A CDA is preferred as well as experience with children with special needs.

 

 

Head Start Teacher - Saco

37.5 hours - 49 weeks/year

 

The Head Start Teacher is responsible for assisting with planning, implementing, and documenting an effective, comprehensive child development program and developing and maintaining partnerships with families.  All services must be provided and documented accurately, in compliance with federal and state standards. Contributes to ensuring the agency’s full compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and Maine State Licensing Requirements.

 

Applicants must have a CDA; an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood preferred, or a related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education. Must have experience in an early childhood setting. The teacher must be an open, warm, caring and accepting person, and willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the families.

 

 

Early Head Start Teacher -  Sanford & Biddeford

51 weeks/year, 35 hours/week

 

The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and documentation of an effective and comprehensive child development program.  Assumes responsibilities of Primary Caregiving, assuring continuity of care.  Supports family strengths and contributes to the development of family/child focused goals and timelines.  Requires full compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards as well as State Child Care Licensing regulations.

 

Applicants must have a state issued Infant Toddler Credential, 1 or 2, or CDA, Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.  Experience in a center or home-based setting specializing in infant and toddlers necessary.  Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, and communication skills.  Willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families.

 

 

Early Head Start Lead Teacher - Biddeford, Stone St

51 weeks/year, 35 hours/week

 

The Early Head Start Lead Teacher is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and documentation of an effective and comprehensive child development program.  Assumes responsibilities of Primary Caregiving, assuring continuity of care.  Supports family strengths and contributes to the development of family/child focused goals and timelines.  Requires full compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards as well as State Child Care Licensing regulations.

The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting an effective, comprehensive child development program and developing and maintaining partnerships with families.  All services must be provided and documented accurately, in compliance with federal and state standards.  The Lead Teacher will supervise education staff members in the assigned classroom/center.

 

The Lead Teacher must have an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood, or a related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  The Lead Teacher must have early childhood classroom experience; prior experience working with families desired; supervisory experience preferred. The Lead teacher must be an open, warm, caring and accepting person with supervisory skills, and willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the families. The Lead Teacher must be willing to travel, have own vehicle, and schedule visits to meet the needs of families.

 

 

Lead Teacher - Saco

37.5 hours/49 weeks

The Early Head Start Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting an effective, comprehensive child development program.  Assumes responsibilities of Primary Caregiving, assuring continuity of care.  Develops, documents, and maintains the on-going partnerships with each enrolled family.  Develops family /child focused goals and timelines and coordinates monthly home visits with each family.  Requires full compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards as well as State Child Care Licensing regulations.

 

Applicants must have an Infant Toddler CDA.  Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred with coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education.  Infant and toddler specific certification is also preferred.  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a center or home-based setting specializing in infant and toddlers preferred.  Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills.  Willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families.  Must be willing to travel and have own vehicle.  When applying please be sure to include your qualifications with resume and application.

Administrative Tax Prep Assistant

Temporary; Part-Time

 

The Administrative Tax Prep Assistant will play an integral role in the support and expansion of YCCAC’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program by scheduling, screening and tracking eligible tax filers, and provide support for volunteer tax preparers which will help families across York County access the assets needed for greater financial stability.

 

Applicants must have experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.  Demonstrated organization and interpersonal skills required.  High School Diploma or higher preferred.
